Zizou Bergs vs Karen Khachanov prediction

Zizou Bergs made a fine start to his grass court season as he reached his second ATP Tour final at the Libema Open in the Netherlands. He beat Alexei Popyrin and Reilly Opelka on his way to getting there but he lost at the final hurdle to Gabriel Diallo. Despite that disappointment, the Belgian is continually improving this season and will be hopeful of another deep run this week in Halle.

He takes on Karen Khachanov in round one. The Russian also competed in the same event but lost to Diallo in the quarter-finals. Khachanov, who made the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 2021, has struggled on grass in more recent times in comparison to the early part of his career.

Khachanov won their only previous meeting, beating Bergs in the first-round of the European Open in Antwerp five years ago. Bergs made a far better transition to the grass last week and is likely to push Khachanov all the way, but the Russian is still finding his feet and should still be able to edge towards a close win.
