Update, 7:51 p.m.: Reds officials haven’t provided a timetable on when the scheduled 7:10 p.m. game might begin as we approach the hour mark of the delay for severe weather.
A message to fans on scoreboard reads: “Fans, the storm is moving quickly to the north east but remains in our area currently. Weather includes heavy rain and lightning. Please move to the concourse area. We will provide another update as we get more information. Thank you.”
Rainfall at the stadium has lightened but there remains standing water on some grass areas of the field and and the warning track.
Previous reporting: The middle game of the Cincinnati Reds–Minnesota Twins series at Great American Ball Park will not start on time on Wednesday.
No timetable for a possible start time for the Reds-Twins game was available around 7 p.m. and officials are expected to update the status of the game around 7:30 p.m.
Great American Ball Park and surrounding areas were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, according to the National Weather Service. The grounds crew at the stadium covered the dirt infield with a tarp around 6:30 p.m.
