While showers and storms threaten the weekend, it’s not a washout in south-central PA

The first half of Saturday has the highest chance of seeing weather before trending drier. The fist half of Sunday is drier with shower and storm chances moving for the second part of the day. Unsettled weather continues into early next week.

BREAK FROM THE WET WEATHER, BUT WE’RE SEEING SOME SHOWERS NOW. MOVE IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST AND OUR STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK ALL AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL BE MAKING ITS WAY THROUGH LATER THIS AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST IS STILL ACROSS WESTERN MARYLAND AND DOWN INTO WEST VIRGINIA. WE COULD SEE SOME POCKETS OF MORE MODERATE RAIN. I REALLY DON’T EXPECT HEAVY RAIN THIS MORNING, AND AS IT IS MOVING IN, WE TAKE A CLOSE UP LOOK HERE ON OUR LIVE LOCAL EIGHT, YOU CAN JUST SEE SOME LIGHT SHOWERS, MAINLY IN OUR WESTERN COUNTIES, MAYBE SOME SPOTTY LIGHT SHOWERS ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN YORK AND SOUTHERN LANCASTER. AND THIS IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO SPREAD EASTWARD THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS. AND HERE’S A LOOK AT OUR PREDICTOR. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT BY AROUND NOONTIME IT REALLY STARTS TO TAPER OFF. SO YOU WANT TO KEEP THE UMBRELLA HANDY AT LEAST UP UNTIL NOON. AND THEN WE’LL WATCH FOR THE FRONT TO ACTUALLY MAKE ITS WAY THROUGH THE AREA. AND IT COULD TRIGGER A FEW THUNDERSTORMS OR THROUGH A FEW THUNDER SHOWERS. NO SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED, BUT COULD BRIEFLY PUT DOWN SOME MODERATE RAIN AS THIS LINE MAKES ITS WAY THROUGH THE AREA. BUT AFTER 5:00, I WOULD SAY WE’RE STARTING TO REALLY DRY OUT. CLOUDS WILL BREAK UP FOR A FEW HOURS BEFORE THEY MOVE BACK IN, SO MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AROUND THIS MORNING AT 9:00. TEMPERATURES RIGHT AROUND 72 THIS AFTERNOON. PARTLY SUNNY WITH A FEW AFTERNOON THUNDERSHOWERS POSSIBLE. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S TO NEAR 80 DEGREES. DECREASING CLOUDS NOT AS MUGGY THROUGH THE EVENING. TEMPERATURES FALL BACK TO AROUND 74 AND THEN THE CLOUDS ARE BACK WITH US OVERNIGHT. MOSTLY CLOUDY, NOT AS MUGGY. TEMPERATURES DROP INTO THE LOW TO MID 60S. TOMORROW STARTS OFF DRY, BUT HEADING INTO THE AFTERNOON WE SEE THE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO THE AREA. STICKY, BUT NOT AS MUGGY. TEMPERATURES A LITTLE BIT COOLER IN THE MID 70S SO IT’S MUGGY THIS MORNING. AND THEN IT TRENDS A LITTLE ON THE STICKY SIDE THIS AFTERNOON, THIS EVENING. AND THEN WE STAY STICKY ALL THE WAY THROUGH TUESDAY. A LOOK OUTSIDE. THERE MAY BE SOME PATCHY FOG. THERE’S A LOT OF CLOUD COVER AND WE’RE STILL RELATIVELY DRY HERE AT THE AIRPORT, BUT THERE ARE SHOWERS OUT THERE. AS I SHOWED YOU, TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN HOLDING STEADY IN THE UPPER 60S TO NEAR 70 DEGREES IN YOUR WEATHER AND HEALTH CHECK. WE’VE GOT MODERATE POLLEN LEVELS. AIR QUALITY IS MODERATE AND THAT IS BECAUSE OF THE PARTICULATES. AND MAINLY STILL BECAUSE OF THAT SMOKE THAT STILL LINGERS OVERHEAD. UV INDEX IS MODERATE AND WITH A BURN TIME OF 30 MINUTES. SO THERE’S THE FRONT THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IT’S GOING TO CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY THROUGH THE AREA, GETS THROUGH LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL SAG TO THE SOUTH. AND THEN WE’LL WATCH ANOTHER AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVE UP FROM THE SOUTHWEST, BRINGING US ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS TOMORROW. SO HERE’S A LOOK AT PREDICTOR. AND AGAIN YOU SEE THOSE SHOWERS AROUND THIS MORNING. THEN A FEW THUNDERSTORMS THUNDER SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON. AND THEN HERE COMES THAT LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WITH RAIN COMING IN BY THE AFTERNOON. A LITTLE BETTER CHANCE FOR MORE MODERATE RAIN AND EVEN SOME THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON HOURS. AND THEN THIS SYSTEM WILL MOVE OFF THE COAST. AND MONDAY WE’LL SEE ANOTHER FRONT COMING IN WITH MORE RAIN CHANCES LATE IN THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. NOW TOMORROW THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OR A LOW RISK FOR SOME OF THOSE STORMS TO BE ON THE STRONG, POSSIBLY EVEN THE SEVERE SIDE. GUSTY WINDS WOULD BE THE MAIN THREAT AND BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS. PREDICTOR SHOWING TODAY NOT A LOT OF RAIN, LESS THAN A 10TH OF AN INCH IN MOST LOCATIONS. MAYBE AN ISOLATED 2/10, BUT THAT’S ABOUT IT. BUT THEN WE ADD TO THAT FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEKEND. A LITTLE BETTER CHANCE FOR SEEING ANYWHERE FROM A COUPLE TENTHS OF AN INCH TO CLOSER TO HALF AN INCH IN SOME LOCATIONS. TEN DAY FORECAST SHOWS THAT WE DO AGAIN, HAVE THOSE LATE DAY SHOWER AND STORM CHANCES ON MONDAY. TEMPERATURES UP AROUND 80 DEGREES. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS ON TUESDAY WITH TEMPERATURES STILL HOVERING NEAR SEASONABLE AVERAGES. THEN WE DRY OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND TEMPERATURES WILL WARM INTO THE LOW TO MID 80S. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. A LITTLE BIT WARMER ON FRIDAY, BUT HEADING INTO FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S UNSETTLED AGAIN. AND WE’LL FINE TUNE THIS FORECAST. BUT IT DOES LOOK LIKE RIGHT NOW WE COULD SEE A CHANCE FOR
