Watch Jacob Misiorowski’s nasty first-inning strikeout of Willi Castro

It turned out to be a special night for Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski on June 20, and the first inning provided an eye-popping omen.

Twins No. 3 hitter Willi Castro took a wildly awkward swing at an inside slider from Misiorowski, a dancing 95-mile-per-hour delivery that twisted Castro into a seated strikeout victim.

Castro’s no slouch, with an .835 OPS this season. But Misiorowski had him in knots.

The inning-ending swing on a 3-2 pitch got the young right-hander Misiorowski fired up, and he went on to throw five additional perfect innings before allowing the first hit of his career in the seventh. Among pitchers working exclusively as a starter, Misiorowski’s 11 hitless innings to begin his career marked the best debut stretch in Major League history.

Misiorowski finished with six strikeouts and moved to 2-0 in his young career after the game turned into a wacky 17-6 Brewers win that featured both sides turning to position players on the hill.
