CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Severe storms are expected tonight with possible damaging winds, hail and tornadoes.
We may have some storms this afternoon, then supercell thunderstorms across West Tennessee will form into a line near the Tennessee River and move east, according to the National Weather Service.
These storms will roll through Clarksville between 9 p.m. and midnight, the NWS said. There’s about a 55% chance of wind in excess of 58 mph, a 25% chance of large hail, and a 10% chance of a tornado.
Clarksville is likely to have about 1 inch of rain through Tuesday.
Flooding risk this week
But it keeps going: We have increasing potential for severe weather on Wednesday as well as flooding late this week into the weekend. Multiple rounds of rain as well as possibly severe thunderstorms will lead to flooding concerns starting Wednesday.
“River flooding will also be a concern along with flash flooding, the NWS said. “Already saturated soils will lead to a higher flood/flash flood risk across northwest Middle Tennessee.”
Clarksville is expected to get 5-6 inches of rain from Wednesday through Saturday.
