Tuesday is a First Warn Weather Day, our highest alert, as there is the risk for dangerous storms to form. Parts of the area are under a Level 3/5 risk for severe weather, which includes the southwest side of the Kansas City metro and points south and west. Everyone else is under a Level 2/5 risk. The primary threats are severe winds and hail, but a few brief tornadoes and flooding rain are also possible. We may see rain come and go throughout the day, but the greatest severe risk is Tuesday night from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
TUESDAY: FIRST WARN WEATHER DAY – Scattered morning rain and scattered afternoon storms. The severe risk with these is low. Morning temperatures will be near 70 with the afternoon high near 83. Mostly cloudy with southwest winds at 5-10 mph. The storm chance and severe risk increases Tuesday night from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
WEDNESDAY: Scattered morning storms are possible with a low severe chance, but much of the rain will be moving east. Highs in the low to mid 80s.
THURSDAY: JUNETEENTH – Sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the upper 80s.
FRIDAY: SUMMER SOLSTICE – Summer begins! And it will feel like it with highs near 90. Humid conditions make it feel like 95 to 100. Mostly sunny with south winds at 10-15 mph.
THE WEEKEND: Hot, humid, and sunny with highs in the low 90s. The heat index will be 95-100, though gusty south winds up to 35 mph may provide a bit of relief.
