The woman tragically killed in a car crash in Dalkeith over the weekend has been identified as Elizabeth Pearce, a Perth resident.
On Monday, flowers were placed at the scene of the crash on Birdwood Parade, near the Nedlands War Memorial, in one of Perth’s most affluent neighborhoods. Many visitors came to pay their respects to Ms. Pearce, leaving flowers and heartfelt messages. Ms. Pearce, who studied at the University of Western Australia, also attended the prestigious St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls in Mosman Park.
At the crash site, the only visible remnants of the incident were police markings on the road outlining the crash, sand covering spilled oil, and a large tire mark in the grass by the curb.
On Monday morning, authorities were seen monitoring the speeds of vehicles along Birdwood Parade, with several fines issued. The tragic accident occurred on Saturday night when Ms. Pearce, 24, was riding in a rideshare vehicle that was allegedly hit by a Jaguar traveling at 130km/h in a 50km/h zone. The driver of the rideshare vehicle, aged 25, sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he is currently being treated.
The driver of the Jaguar, Dr. Rhys Henry Stone Bellinge, an obstetrician, has been charged with manslaughter and dangerous driving. Reports indicate he had a blood alcohol level of 0.183 at the time of the crash.
In 2018, Ms. Pearce was recognized in The West Australian for receiving a certificate of distinction for her outstanding academic performance.
