CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A sprawling low pressure system will move into the Great Lakes late this evening.
By tomorrow morning, this system will be situated to our north over Lake Huron.
The low will drag a cold front into northern Ohio late tonight, facilitating the development of rain and storms after midnight.
Strong (potentially severe) storms to our west will march east across the Midwest through the night.
By midnight, the storms will move into Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties.
The good news is that the storms will be rapidly weakening as they move into our region.
Scattered rain and rumbles of thunder will drift across northeast Ohio from west to east overnight.
The strongest of the storms may produce gusty winds on the order of 40 to 50 mph, mainly west of I-71.
By sunrise Thursday (7:30 a.m.), any lingering rain will have moved out.
Ahead of the storms, temperatures have surged.
Most communities made it well into the 70s today!
Tomorrow (and the following days) will be sharply cooler.
Oddly enough, tomorrow is actually the first day of Spring.
Temperatures will plummet into the 40s Thursday afternoon.
Scattered showers will develop Thursday afternoon, and as colder air begins to move in, the rain will mix with snow.
Expect scattered snow showers Thursday night.
A quick coating of snow is possible.
