Sarah Jessica Parker Once Owned This $30 Million N.Y.C Townhouse

Forget Carrie’s Upper East Side brownstone apartment in HBO’s beloved Sex and the City series. A Greenwich Village townhouse formerly owned by Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick, which doubled as a massive closet for the film and television star, can now be yours for $29.99 million. Noble Black and Jennifer (Kaufman) Stillman of Douglas Elliman hold the listing.

The married couple of nearly 30 years bought the circa 1864 abode on East 10th Street for $18.99 million in 2011, according to records. Though they spent millions on renovations, the showbiz couple reportedly never moved in. But, given that Parker used the five-story pad to store her wardrobe, just imagine the garments that did. The award-winning duo first hoisted the epic townhouse-turned-closet onto the market in 2012 for $25 million. Several price cuts later, it was sold in 2015 at a loss for $18.25 million.

More recently, the 25-foot-wide townhouse was owned by Michael Nierenberg of New Residential Investment Corp. and his wife Elin, who sold it to Scott Sullivan and Anna Mars for $15.8 million in 2020, the New York Post reports. Apart from its ties to a couple of entertainment industry icons, the nearly 8,000-square-foot home, which has been reimagined by TenBerke, factors in a host of wood-burning fireplaces, an art studio, and a private garden-view terrace.

Beyond its towering red-brick facade sits the parlor-level foyer with a grand staircase crafted from wood. Sprawling living and dining areas are off to the right with 12-foot ceilings and oversized windows that flood the rooms with natural light. You’ll find the ultramodern eat-in Boffi kitchen one floor below with an open-concept design outfitted with Gaggenau appliances ranging from a steam oven to a warming drawer, plus two Miele dishwashers. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open the dining space to a bluestone patio and garden.

Six bedrooms are spread across the townhouse, starting on the garden floor and reaching up to the fourth floor, where the primary suite covers the entire level. Ten-foot-tall ceilings soar above the primary bedroom that includes a spacious en-suite bath with tiled flooring, a floating sink with marble features, and a wood-burning fireplace. A small study with French doors to a garden-view terrace sweetens the deal.

On the top floor, where a massive vaulted skylight crowns the home, a 45-foot-long and 23-foot-wide studio space can be used as a light-filled family room, home office, gym, or art studio—your pick. Other highlights include a discrete wet bar and a powder room on the parlor floor and a temperature-controlled wine cellar in the basement, as well as a giant laundry room.

As for Parker and Broderick, they live not too far away in another townhouse, actually two side-by-side townhouses, that they acquired in 2016 for $34.5 million. They also maintain a charming oceanfront compound in the Amagansett area of the Hamptons.
