Romania Men’s Football Fixture for June: What are the Upcoming Games for the Tricolours?

Romania are set for two pivotal World Cup qualifiers this June. They are set to host Cyprus on June 10 following a challenging opener. These matches form part of Group H in the UEFA qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both matches presented key opportunities for Romania to recover early setbacks.

However, they failed to take advantage in their first match against Austria which they lost by a 2-1 margin in Vienna on June 7. Romania are now returning home with hopes of stepping up their campaign. These matches ate testing coach Mircea Lucescu’s squad depth as they chase direct qualification.

Romania are currently occupying second position in Group H, with one win against San Marino and two defeats against Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina from their opening games. Only the group winners will earn direct entry to the World Cup 2026, while second placed teams will move to playoffs.

Their next match is set to be played against Cyprus at Stadionul Național. It will offer them the chance to reassert dominance. With Bosnia and Herzegovina leading the group, Romania must string together wins to stay in contention and avoid reliance on the unpredictability of playoff rounds.

Goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan continues as first choice after impressive form. Meanwhile midfielder Florin Tanase netted a consolation against Austria in the dying moments with a spark upfront. Coach Lucescu has retained the core of the side that defeated San Marino by the big 5-1 margin.

This includes midfield mainstay Nicolae Stanciu and wingers Danish Man and Denis Dragus providing help in the attack. However, injury concerns have sidelined defenders like Radu Dragusin and Alexandru Cicaldau. This left the door open for international newcomer Daniel Bîrligea, who recently joined the senior squad to take to the field.
