Power outage leaves 8,000 NV Energy customers in Reno without electricity

Approximately 25,000 NV Energy customers in the Reno area are currently without power this evening, as a significant outage has left homes and businesses in the dark. As of 6:30 PM PDT, Officials with NV Energy say they are de-energizing lines due to the wildfire burning in Spanish Springs, and customers should prepare for prolonged outages.

The outage appears to be affecting various neighborhoods across Reno, with reports of darkened streets and silent homes coming in from multiple sectors. Residents are experiencing the sudden loss of electricity, impacting everything from lighting and air conditioning to essential appliances.

A spokesperson for the utility company stated that crews have been dispatched to assess the situation and begin restoration efforts. However, no estimated time for power restoration has been provided at this time.

NV Energy encourages affected customers to visit their online outage map for the most up-to-date information on the situation, and estimated restoration times as they become available. Residents are also reminded to exercise caution and avoid downed power lines, reporting any instances to NV Energy immediately.
