Post-Hardcore band ‘Pierce The Veil’ stuns crowd with lively performance alongside ‘Sleeping With Sirens’ and ‘Beach Weather’. – The Egalitarian

Last Thursday, post-hardcore band “Pierce The Veil” performed their sold-out show in Houston which left many fans impressed and eager for more. The San Diego-based band announced their “I Can’t Hear You” world tour in December of 2024 with the tour kicking off back in May in Charlotte, North Carolina and eventually ending in December of this year in São Paulo, Brazil. The tour was to feature songs from all five albums, making it an “eras-tour” for the band. After a five year hiatus, fans have been more eager than ever to get their hands on tickets and the turnout at the Houston show only proved that. The band performed at the Cynthia Mitchell Woodlands Pavilion, a popular music venue that has hosted a variety of bands such as “Cage The Elephant”, “Stone Temple Pilots”, “Thirty Seconds to Mars”, and many more. The venue was packed with buzzing fans, but had plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the show.

The show, which began at 7:00pm, was kicked off by “Beach Weather”, a Massachusetts-based alternative band that is best known for their single “Sex, Drugs, Etc”. They were then followed by “Sleeping With Sirens”, a popular rock band from Florida that had previously collaborated with Pierce The Veil on their hit 2012 single “King For A Day”. Their set was energetic and emotional, with lead singer Kellin Quinn thanking the crowd for their support and speaking on the importance of living in the moment with your loved ones. After ending their set with their most-streamed song “If You Can’t Hang”, there was a brief intermission before Pierce The Veil took the stage. Fans were able to take this time to buy merchandise, grab a drink, or enjoy a hot dog from the concession stands.

Soon after,  Pierce The Veil was finally ready to take the stage. As the lights dimmed, fans cheered and held up signs in support of the band. After playing a brief snippet of late legendary Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez’s “El Rey”, an ode to the band’s Mexican roots, the show was kicked off with “Death of an Executioner”, a single from the band’s most recent album, “The Jaws of Life” (2023). The show cycled through every album including their earliest album “A Flair for the Dramatic” (2006), and all the way through the rest of their releases: “Selfish Machines” (2010), “Collide With the Sky” (2012), and “Misadventures” (2016). The crowd was in high-spirits with one couple even getting engaged during the song “Wonderless”. The lights were flashy and bright, the sound was loud and immersive, and the band was great at interacting with the crowd.

As the end of the show approached, the band finished off their performance with a live collaboration of the aforementioned single “King For A Day”. The song choice was the perfect way to end their show and left the crowd absolutely in awe, seeing two of their favorite artists come together to perform their iconic collaboration. The band gave one last final tribute to their Mexican heritage by ending the show with late Tejano singer Selena’s 1994 single “Amor Prohibido”. Even though the show had concluded, many fans stayed behind to dance and enjoy the atmosphere once more before going home and awaiting their next tour.
