NH severe weather update: Severe thunderstorm watch cancelled

Storms popped up across New Hampshire on Thursday evening, which triggered severe warnings.

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for Coos County until 11 p.m, and then was dropped.

Main threats with the storms Thursday Evening included downpours, damaging wind gusts, hail and lightning.

A heat advisory was also in effect until 7 p.m. for portions of Hillsborough and Rockingham counties, including communities like Exeter, Derry, Salem, Nashua and Manchester.

These areas saw heat indices — how warm the temperature will feel when factoring in humidity — up to 99 degrees.

New Hampshire areas outside the spots under a heat advisory saw hot and humid weather, with highs in the mid-80s for northern zones and temperatures near 90 in southern areas.

A few showers and thundershowers, mostly north and far west overnight.

Friday will be breezy and less humid. It will still be pleasantly warm, with highs in the 70s to near 80, as we officially start the summer season. A few spotty showers north otherwise bright skies.

Saturday looks mostly dry and warm. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms this weekend will come late Saturday Evening into early Sunday.

More heat and humidity build in early next week, with highs in the 90s likely on Monday and Tuesday.
