The Upside Down, brave characters, and horrifying monsters ranging from the Mind Flayer to Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower Brown) are just a few reasons why fans are counting down the days until Stranger Things season 5 comes to Netflix. When the show premiered in July 2016, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) came to Hawkins, Indiana, and what happened next led to one of the streaming service’s most successful shows. Seasons 1 through 4 featured quirky new characters, terrible deaths, and the theme of good winning over evil.
With the fifth and last season on its way soon, fans wonder how this epic tale can continue. While there are no concrete spinoff details, viewers are focused on Stranger Things season 5. But beyond the battle between the major characters and Vecna, could two beloved characters have some scenes together?

Stranger Things season 5 will come to an end on Netflix in 2025, and it could take cues from The Walking Dead’s moving and compelling finale.
Stranger Things Season 5 Should See Erica And Murray Team Up
Stranger Things has excelled at putting strong characters in tough and scary situations together. Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) and Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) had a hilarious dynamic in Stranger Things season 3, and it would be fun to see them spend some time together in the fifth season as well. Fans enjoy watching characters team up since the show has done a great job of pairing up people who don’t seem like they would get along. One example? Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery). Fans appreciate that despite their age difference and the fact that Steve thinks he’s the coolest person at Hawkins High School, they respect and care about each other.
Since Erica and Murray are both courageous Stranger Things characters, it seems likely that they would throw themselves into action in Stranger Things season 5. Erica and Murray could work together to find out more about the Upside Down in the new season, and if they could get past their distrust and dislike of each other, they could accomplish a lot. Erica and Murray’s season 3 scenes are so memorable because Erica stands up to Murray and doesn’t care what he says or thinks. She’s tough and confident and even insults him by calling him bald, which is one of the funniest moments in the whole season, or maybe even the entire series. Erica lets Murray know that she’s aware that the Starcourt Mall is connected to the Upside Down, and her self-assured personality and young age surprise him. It would not only be funny to see Erica continue to make fun of Murray, but perhaps he would realize that she’s the key to this whole operation.
Both Erica and Murray are unique Stranger Things characters who bring intelligence and humor to every scene. While the ending is going to be emotional, it also seems likely that several season 5 scenes will be hilarious. In 2022, Brett Gelman gave an interview to GQ and talked about Murray. He said:
“It just felt like this character is going to grow. There’s nothing else like this character on this show and I think he brings something that no other character is bringing.”
From the moment Erica was introduced in season 2, it was clear that she would grow, too, and became an important part of the fight against the Upside Down. Erica is tired of being seen as Lucas Sinclair’s (Caleb McLaughlin) little sister and wants to be part of the action. In a 2017 interview with Teen Vogue, Priah Ferguson summed up what so many fans feel about her character:
“I liked how Erica just doesn’t care. She has an ‘it is what it is’ attitude, and ‘calling it a day’ attitude.”
What Else Should Happen To Erica And Murray In Stranger Things Season 5?
As fans think about the best ending for each character, it’s also interesting to imagine how Erica Sinclair and Murray Bauman’s storylines could conclude. Since Erica is still young, she won’t be moving away from Hawkins or making any big career or life decisions. Still, she could have a charming and heartwarming ending. Perhaps Erica could find another mystery to solve or could join a club at school that helps her showcase her investigative skills.
Since Murray has played such a significant role in past Stranger Things seasons, including finding Jim Hopper (David Harbour) in season 4, it would make sense to give Murray a big send-off. Maybe he will decide to travel, which would allow him to look for his next adventure. Hopefully, if there is a Stranger Things season 5 trailer released at some point this year, fans will see a glimpse of what to expect from Erica and Murray’s plotlines.
