Nashville area weather forecast calls for chance of severe thunderstorms, bringing hail and damaging winds to Middle Tennessee

All of Middle Tennessee is at risk for severe storms, including damaging winds and heavy rainfall, on June 9. Most of the region is under a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) while northwest portions of the region are under a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5), said the National Weather Service.

According to the Storm Prediction Center, the anticipated storms are part of a larger system moving throughout the gulf coast states and the southeast.

Storms, which may also bring a lesser threat of large hail, are most likely to move into the region during the afternoon hours, specifically between 1 and 6 p.m. and should exit before sunset, added the weather service.

Tornadoes are not expected.

There is a medium to high chain of rain and storms across Middle Tennessee on June 9, with a low to medium chance that some storms will be severe. Storms are expected to move through Middle Tennessee between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Quieter weather will resume on June 9-10, before rain and storm chances resume on June 11 and throughout the weekend, said the weather service.
