Medvedev vs. Khachanov, Monfils vs. Marozsan

First-round action in Monte-Carlo continues on Monday, when an all-Russian showdown pits Daniil Medvedev against Karen Khachanov. Gael Monfils will have the crowd behind him against Fabian Marozsan. For those looking to place bets on Monte-Carlo matches, melbet pk offers competitive odds and a wide range of tennis markets.

(9) Daniil Medvedev vs. Karen Khachanov

It is not often that Medvedev and Khachanov have to square off in the first round, but they will be doing so for the second time in their careers and for the second time in a row on Monday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. Their Doha encounter just a couple of months ago came in the opening round, with Medvedev prevailing 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to take a 6-2 lead in the head-to-head series. They have faced each other only once on clay and it was in none other than Monte-Carlo just last year, when Khachanov scored a 6-3, 7-5 victory.

Both Russians have struggled mightily in 2025. Medvedev’s only decent result is a semifinal showing in Indian Wells, but even then he posted only one good win (6-4, 6-0 over Tommy Paul) and it ended with a straight-set loss to Holger Rune. Khachanov comes in with a 5-7 record for the season. The world No. 26 is generally more comfortable than his compatriot on clay and he will obviously take confidence from their Monte-Carlo result 12 months ago, so another minor upset could be in the cards.

Pick: Khachanov in 3

Gael Monfils vs. (Q) Fabian Marozsan

Monfils and Marozsan will be going head-to-head for the third time in their careers on Monday. They have split their two previous meetings; Marozsan prevailed 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-6(4) at the 2024 Auckland event before Monfils got the job done 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 a couple of weeks ago in the Miami first round.

The 38-year-old Frenchman has enjoyed some success in Monte-Carlo over the years, finishing runner-up to Rafael Nadal in 2016 after advancing to the semifinals in 2015. It is basically a home tournament for him and the French fans will be especially boisterous understanding that Monfils’ illustrious career is probably winding down. Marozsan, who is 8-8 so far this season, is making his first-ever appearance in the principality. Monfils is healthy and well rested after last playing in Miami (reached the fourth round), so he should be in good position to begin his week with a win.

Pick: Monfils in 2
