Mariska Hargitay has fans freaking out online … and it’s all thanks to the one person who fans can’t get enough of seeing her work with.
The Law and Order: SVU actress had her followers in a frenzy when she decided to drop a surprise reunion on Instagram. On March 19, fans caught her alongside none other than actor Christopher Meloni (who famously plays Elliot Stabler in the TV franchise) while in the middle of shooting new episodes. Given how he’s currently starring on Law and Order: Organized Crime and hasn’t popped up on SVU in quite some time, Mariska seemingly wanted to tease the potential of seeing her and Christopher back onscreen together in a way only she knew how.
“Just leaving this here 👯♂️,” she cryptically wrote in the caption next to three photos of her and Christopher.
Since fans have been wanting to see Mariska (who plays Olivia Benson) and Christopher have an onscreen reunion for quite a while, seeing the two together in this manner caused quite a stir in the comments.
“Just go ahead and break the internet today!” one person wrote in the comments. “Benson and Stabler back in action! Love to see this and thank you for sharing. My favorite duo ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥👏👏👏,” another declared. “Chriska/Bensler back and sending the internet into frenzy! Feel like I just died and went to heaven for a moment,” a different follower added.
While it’s not confirmed that this means Christopher and Mariska will appear onscreen together again, we can’t help but hope something is in the works! After all, the various Law and Order shows love to bring on different characters when it comes to specific cases seen in each series.
What’s more, we already know Law and Order and Law and Order: SVU are having a crossover episode event on April 17 … which is coincidentally the same day Law and Order: Organized Crime airs season 5 on NBC and Peacock. So, does this mean Stabler and Benson will finally have the moment folks have been waiting for all this time?
We’ll just have to wait and see what’s to come. But one thing’s for sure: Mariska and Christopher certainly know how to get fans all riled up.
