Jack Sock sealed his spot in the final of the PPA Red Rock Open at Black Desert Resort, St. George, Utah, on Saturday for the second consecutive year.

After winning all three of his matches on Wednesday, Sock, who reached a career-high world ranking of eight on the ATP Tour, registered a phenomenal win over Connor Garnett, former throwing partner of Novak Djokovic, in the men’s singles semifinal.

Playing in front of a boisterous crowd, Sock did not have the best of starts, as Garnett claimed the opening game 11-6. However, Sock held his composure and turned the match around by convincingly winning the next two games—11-5, 11-7.

After a shaky start, Sock overwhelmed Garnett with his swift footwork and effective use of the backhand slice and net drop, leaving the latter struggling to reach the ball. Sock finished the match with a brilliant forehand smash that Garnett failed to negotiate, as the crowd burst into loud appreciation for the former American tennis player.

Sock, who lost in the final last year to Federico Staksrud, will look to amend his performance this time when he takes on second seed Hunter Johnson in the summit clash on Sunday. Johnson defeated Quang Duong in the other men’s singles semifinal 9-11, 11-3, 11-8.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles last-four, Anna Leigh Waters took down third seed Lea Jansen in straight games (11-4, 11-2) to reach the final, where she will face Parris Todd, who also won in straight games (11-1, 11-4) against Kaitlyn Christian.

Waters will also be in contention for the women’s doubles title when she pairs up with former Canadian tennis player Catherine Parenteau against Allyce Wilson-Jones and Etta Tuionetoa. While Jones and Tuionetoa defeated Rachel Rohrabacher and Todd in the semifinals, Waters and Parenteau got the better of Kaitlyn Christian and Christa Gecheva. Parenteau, on the other hand, will chase the mixed doubles title in partnership with Christian Alshon as they face Todd and Dekel Bar.
