Hilarious and Talented ‘Big Mouth’ Star Coming to Portsmouth, NH

Jenny Slate is one of the most adorable, universally loved (in my opinion) actors in Hollywood right now.

First of all, we love a local gal who hails from Milton, Massachusetts. I also feel like she provides levity and comedic relief in absolutely everything she touches. I LOVED her “Obvious Child”. She stars in this 2014 masterpiece with Jake Lacy where she is a struggling young comedian who is navigating an unplanned pregnancy. Her performance is just spectacular.

More recently she was a supporting role in the blockbuster “It Ends with Us” with Blake Lively. She was the much needed comedic relief in that at times heavy movie that tells a story about domestic abuse. Something tells me Jenny stayed FAR AWAY from all of that legal drama between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. That just isn’t her style to get caught up in that whole mess. I talk about her like I know her but I feel like I do, you know?

And though I miss Jenny so much as the voice of “Missy” on the Netflix animated serious “Big Mouth”, I understand why she felt like that role was meant for an African American actress and I think she did a noble thing by giving it up.

This year for the Seacoast Litfest Jenny will be a keynote speaker and I could not be more excited or delighted.

What is Seacoast Litfest?

Seacoast Litfest is an inspiring multi-day celebration that brings together bestselling authors, thought leaders, and curious readers for an unforgettable literary experience on New Hampshire’s Seacoast. From lively book chats and author talks to a vibrant book fair and community events, the festival invites audiences of all ages to connect.

What will Jenny Slate be discussing at Seacoast Litfest?

Her INSTANT bestselling collection of essays she released in 2024 called Lifeform. The book is described as a ” a wild, soulful, hilarious collection of genre-bending essays depicting the journey into motherhood as you’ve never seen it before”. As new mother myself I imagine this book will speak directly to my soul. I will be adding it to my Summer reads list ASAP.

If I know Jenny, and like I said above I feel like I do, no only will this be a heartfelt discussion about her book it will also be a comedy show.

I can’t wait!
