Girl group Black Pink Jenny won a lawsuit against A, who impersonated her biological father, to ban the distribution of publications.
According to a report by Women’s Sense on the 18th, the Uijeongbu District Court’s Goyang Branch ruled on May 9 that “it is reasonable to consider that the claim that A is Jenny’s biological father is false.” The court ordered defendant A and publisher B to discard the book, and ruled that A should not mention Jenny-related content on his personal SNS account, such as Kakao Talk profile photos.
The controversy over Jenny’s impersonation of her biological father originated from an AI feature novel published by A. A carried Jenny’s logo on the cover and prologue of the book, along with the claim that Jenny is her own daughter. This content has spread to fake news among Black Pink fans, including “The House of Geumsujeo.”
Jenny, who has never mentioned her biological father in public, issued an official statement through OA Entertainment on September 6 last year to prevent the spread of fake news, heralding legal action.
On December 24 last year, OA Entertainment filed a “claim against the distribution of publications” against A and publisher B, who impersonated their biological father. The plaintiff’s price was confirmed to be 200 million won.
The court ruled on May 9 that “while there is no data to support the claim that defendant A is the biological father of plaintiff Jenny, it is reasonable to consider the defendants’ claim that defendant A is the biological father of plaintiff Jenny, as it is clearly recognized that a person other than defendant A is recorded as the father in plaintiff Jenny’s family relationship certificate.”
The court ruled that A should delete all the KakaoTalk profile photos, status messages, and posts left on social media. “The defendants’ actions violate personal rights such as honor and credit,” he said, adding, “You cannot sell books without deleting prologues and covers containing paternity claims, and discard all existing books.”
The court did not issue a provisional sentence, judging that the case was a claim based on the right to honor (personal rights) and was different from the claim of property rights. In addition, the defendant was not fined, and A was responsible for the litigation costs.
Earlier in September last year, Jenny’s agency said on its official SNS that “illegal production publications and fake news containing false facts impersonating the artist’s father have been continuously circulating,” adding, “This is a clear false fact and clearly has nothing to do with the artist.”
Jenny ended her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment in December last year and has established a one-man agency, OA Entertainment, to continue her individual activities.
