The Minnesota Vikings have released center Garrett Bradbury after signing former Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly.
Bradbury was drafted by the Vikings with the 18th overall pick in 2019 and started all 17 regular-season games for Minnesota last season.
Rumors have swirled that the New England Patriots could pursue Bradbury soon after releasing veteran center David Andrews last week, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
On Sunday, Reiss explained that the Patriots would not be willing to take on Bradbury’s $4.09 million salary via trade but would pursue him if he were released.
Bradbury’s release is designated as a post-June 1 move, per NFL Network, resulting in $5.25 million in cap savings and $814,000 in dead money for the upcoming season. His current cap figure will remain on the books until June 2, so, the additional space won’t be available until then.
Bradbury has played in 88 games, all as a starter, since his pro debut and has appeared in at least 12 games each season.
According to Pro Football Focus‘ rankings, Bradbury was the 10th-best center during the 2022 season. However, over the past two seasons, he ranked 31st and 33rd in overall grades. Last season, he received the 14th-highest run-blocking grade among centers.
