Jack Gibbens, who played for Mike Vrabel in Tennessee, is in Foxborough today visiting with the Patriots, according to a league source.
The free agent linebacker was with Tennessee for two seasons, starting 18 games. Many of those came with Vrabel as coach in 2023.
Gibbens, who played college football at Abilene Christian and Minnesota, is coming off an ankle injury that derailed his 2024 season.
He underwent surgery in November. The Patriots will want to get a read on how well Gibbens has recovered from that surgery.
Prior to suffering the injury Week 11, Gibbens had started to make his mark.
During the Week 8 game against the Patriots last season, he registered 14 tackles. He had 15 tackles the following week against the LA Rams before getting hurt.
The Patriots have already added to their linebacker room with Robert Spillane and Harold Landry. Both of them also played for Vrabel and defensive coordinator Terrell Wiliams in Tennessee.
Linebackers Ja’Whaun Bentley, Jahlani Tavai and Christian Elliss are also currently on the roster.
