A line of thunderstorms is expected to develop in Arkansas and move to the east and through the Mid-South on Sunday evening/night. Along this line, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected, and some of these storms could have large hail, strong winds and even isolated tornadoes aren’t impossible. The line of storms is expected to clear McNairy and Alcorn Counties (who will be the last to see the storms) by about 4 AM on Monday morning. This does mean that the Monday morning commute should not be an issue as far as thunderstorms and actual falling rain goes.
Developing sunshine is expected on Monday and the afternoon hours look to be tranquil. This will continue into Tuesday and the combination of Monday and Tuesday will be the nicest days over the next ten. Temperatures will start to warm back up on Tuesday, though.
Wednesday, though…. Buckle back up!
Another First Alert Weather Day has been declared, as additional showers and thunderstorms are expected. While this is a few days out, and things can (and will) change, the intensity and set-up of the weather for that given day is a bit more impressive than Sunday [March 30th]. We could see some large hail, strong winds and tornadoes around the Mid-South. The timing appears to be generally later in the day and it is certainly a day you are going to want to keep an eye on.
Thursday is another day we have to keep an eye on around the Mid-South. While it isn’t a First Alert Weather Day, it certainly has the potential to become one. Aside from the usual hail, wind and tornado threat, some very heavy rain is possible. This means you are going to need to keep an eye on flooding around the Mid-South. That will likely be the case for Friday (although to a lesser extent) and Saturday, too. More rain showers and thunderstorms are possible for Sunday [April 6th], but the opportunity for rain will finally start to diminish for the first full week of April.
Sunday night/Monday morning: Mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms around. Some of those storms could be strong-to-severe. Clouds will decrease closer to sunrise. Lows in the middle 50s.
Monday: Mostly sunny skies. Highs in the middle 60s.
Monday night/Tuesday morning: Mostly clear skies. Lows in the middle 40s.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy skies. Highs in the lower to middle 70s.
Beyond that: Wednesday is a First Alert Weather Day as another round of strong to severe thunderstorms is a possibility. Wednesday’s thunderstorms could be stronger than the ones that moved through the Mid-South on Sunday evening so you are going to absolutely want to monitor the weather as that time draws closer. Another day of strong-to-severe thunderstorms is possible for Thursday and Saturday, too. Friday still holds a fair chance of rain, but these are more ‘run-of-the-mill’ showers and thunderstorms. It doesn’t appear that the Mid-South will start to see a quieter and drier weather pattern until Monday, April 7th.
