Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Joseph Baena Mourns Death of Nephew

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Joseph Baena, is mourning the loss of his beloved nephew, Vicente.

On Wednesday, March 26, Baena, 27, confirmed Vicente’s death with an emotional Instagram post, sharing a carousel of photos alongside a tribute.

“It’s been a week since my nephew, Vicente, left us and it’s been the most difficult and confusing week of my family’s life,” Baena — who is the son of Schwarzenegger and his longtime housekeeper, Mildred Baena — captioned the post.

He continued, “All I can think about is what a kind, funny, caring and smart kid he is and how much we all love him. We miss him so much and still can’t believe this is all real.”

Baena didn’t share his younger family member’s cause of death. According to an Instagram Stories tribute by Baena’s girlfriend, Mel Randel, Vicente had just graduated from high school before he died.

“I can’t help but be frustrated, mad, confused and sad for this tragic event, but I also think about how we never truly know what weight a person carries or what battles they struggle with,” Baena wrote.

The actor continued, “As I mourn with my family I pray that all of you that are struggling, that are hurting and that are tired, may find the strength to be kind to yourself.” 

“To find the help that you need. To know that your life is worth living. To know that even if you may not feel it right now, know that you are loved. We miss you Vicente. Rest in peace,” he concluded.

Baena shared the message alongside multiple photos, including one of Vicente sat on his shoulders in front of a fountain as they both smiled and put their arms in the air.

Another shot showed Baena, Vicente and loved ones seemingly posing on the set of Dancing with the Stars, when Baena appeared on the show in 2022. He also posted a photo and video from Vicente’s graduation while the family cheered in the background.

Baena’s partner reshared the graduation snap of her, Baena and Vicente on her Instagram Stories, as well as sharing a separate tribute.

Randel wrote, “It’s been a week since Joe’s nephew, Vicente, passed away. He just graduated high school.”

“His life was just beginning but he was fighting a silent war and lost. His soul was pure. We miss him and we miss the memories we’ll never get to make with him. We will carry his spirit with us forever. Please be kind to your mind,” the model added.
