Amy Jo Johnson is remembering her late Power Rangers costar.
The original Pink Ranger shared a throwback photo of herself with Jason David Frank, who played Tommy Oliver on all three seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, on Instagram on Monday.
“Thank you to whoever it was who gave me this photo at Niagara [Falls Comic Con],” Johnson wrote in her caption, adding an emoji of two pink hearts. “Miss this guy, as we all do.”
Frank, who died by suicide at age 49 in 2022, was first introduced on MMRP near the end of its first season in 1993. His character was only intended to recur over a handful of episodes.
“I was told when I was hired, ‘Don’t get excited. You’re here for 10 episodes, your character dies off on the show.’ I said, ‘Hey, I’m happy to do one episode,'” Frank told Entertainment Weekly in 2018. “When I first got to set, the first thing I did was lay out my costume on the chair and took pictures. Then, I saw the mouth [on the helmet] didn’t move. I was like, ‘Man, I probably don’t even have lines in this episode.’ But I did and I just did the best I could, and more opportunities just kept opening for me.”

Frank ultimately became a fan-favorite cast member, and returned for numerous other projects, including Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, Power Rangers DinoThunder, and Power Rangers HyperForce. Across his Power Rangers journey, Tommy took on multiple colorful mantles, including the White Power Ranger, the Red Turbo Ranger, and the Black Dino Ranger.
Johnson previously recalled working with Frank during a Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo in 2024.
“He had rock-star energy,” the actress remembered, noting her costar’s daredevil spirit. “On set when he would get on his ATV…and then ride off into the distance, and we’d see him going over the horizon while we’re shooting… They’re like, ‘Where’s Jason?’ And then maybe 15 minutes later, this little spec would come over the horizon, and here he comes.”

The actress also paid tribute to Frank shortly after his death in 2022.
“Jase, you were beautiful and truly unique,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “My life just won’t be the same without your frenetic, hilarious, caring, driven and creative ball of energy. I will always love you, dear friend.”
