Air India plane seen exploding after tragic crash — as lone survivor walks away

Incredible new footage shows the sole survivor of the devastating Air India crash walking away calmly from the wreckage — as the aircraft explodes in a huge fireball behind him.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national, miraculously survived Thursday’s deadly crash in the city of Ahmedabad after escaping seat 11A and getting out through the emergency door.

The father, who had been in India with his brother Ajay for the past year, is shown talking on the phone as he walks away from the blazing inferno in new video shared on social media.

Terrified witnesses are seen yelling around him after Air India flight AI171 crash-landed moments after takeoff into a medical college on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, en route to London Gatwick Airport.

“The plane exploded,” one man can be heard yelling in the clip.

Ramesh’s brother, who was sitting next to him on board the Boeing 787, was among the 270 people so far confirmed to have died in last week’s crash.

Last week, Ramesh admitted it was “a miracle” that he had survived in an interview from his hospital bed with local outlet DD India.

“The emergency door was broken, my seat is broken,” he said.He added that he had not jumped from his seat as was earlier reported.

“I just walked out,” he said.”He is having minor injuries only,” Ramesh’s doctor told the outlet. “He has some abrasions over his left forearm and over the eyes.”

Chest and abdomen is clear, no lung fractures present. The patient is vitally stable,” he added.Despite Ramesh’s unbelievable survival, his family is mourning the loss of his brother.

Ramesh’s father is reportedly still too upset to speak about the tragedy, one of the worst aviation disasters this decade.

“He is still grappling with the tragedy,” family friend Deepak Devjil said.No single cause has yet emerged to explain last week’s horror crash, although a catastrophic loss of engine power is increasingly seen as the most likely cause.

Video footage and preliminary findings suggest the aircraft failed to gain enough altitude, possibly as a result of reduced thrust from both of the plane’s General Electric GEnz engines, the Times of London reported.

It’s believed the plane only reached an altitude of 450 feet before it came crashing back down to earth.Urgent pre-flight inspections of fuel systems, electronic engine controls, and other components on Boeing 787 aircraft operating in India were launched by the country’s civil aviation authority (DGCA) on Sunday.

Investigators have now recovered both black box records from the downed aircraft, which they say will make it easier to determine the exact cause of Thursday’s disaster.
