HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Live music and food accompanied students while they got hands on experience with technology, AI, and business at Drake State on Wednesday.
Drake State Community & Technical College hosted the HBCU Innovation Power Hour.
The event provided an opportunity for college students to explore the power of artificial intelligence.
Students got the chance to put what they learned into action with a pitch contest.
Organizers said they aim to build students into being competitive candidates for the workforce.
“Anything that we can do to actually compliment the traditional education they’re getting with their schools makes them more marketable,” said Charisse Stokes, executive director for the Alabama Collective. “We want to ensure that these students get jobs. We want to ensure that these students have the resources to start their own businesses. We really want them to excel and retain them right here in the state of Alabama.”
Stokes added events like Innovation Power Hour are made possible thanks to Innovate Alabama.
