When TV host and New York Times best-selling author Melissa Rivers began planning her wedding to attorney Steve Mitchel, the bride-to-be had a clear idea of what she wanted the celebration to feel like: A party. “My vision was to have a party and have a wedding break out in the middle and go back to having a party, and we definitely nailed that,” Melissa explains. The couple invited 150 guests to join them on March 15, 2025, at the Four Seasons, Jackson Hole, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a locale that’s meaningful to both the bride and groom. “We love Wyoming,” Melissa affirms. “We were originally going to do it at the ranch which my family has been going to for 16 years, and it just got too complicated. Steve also has a fishing lodge about two hours outside of Jackson Hole that he’s been going to since he was a kid, so that part of the world is very dear to him.”
With help from Elizabeth Kelleher of In Any Event, the couple selected a wintry color palette of red and green and set out to plan a celebration that was as fun as possible. Here, see exclusive photos from the couple’s wedding, captured by Paul Morse, which was first reported by our sister brand PEOPLE.

Melissa chose to wear a beaded gown from Stella McCartney on the wedding day, but it needed an adjustment on the length. “I knew from the start that I was going to shorten the dress. So, I texted [Stella] because I didn’t want her to see pictures later and think, ‘Oh my God, what have you done to my dress?’” Melissa laughs. “We went back and forth, and she told me to just send pictures of me in it. I marked where I wanted it shortened, and she was completely on board. I was like, ‘OK, great! Then I’ll be changing it.’”
The bride also wore two extra-special accessories, both of which belonged to her late mother, TV legend Joan Rivers. Melissa wore her mother’s ring, which she had grabbed from her California home just before she evacuated in January (sadly, Melissa’s home was lost in the Palisades fires). She also accessorized with one of Joan’s pins, which she wore in her hair. This piece was especially meaningful, as Melissa thought it had been lost alongside her home. “I thought it had been lost in the fire, but while reviewing the inventory list for the vault at our jewelry company in New York, I discovered it was actually there,” she says. “I hadn’t realized they hadn’t returned it to me yet. I was devastated when I thought it was gone. We had it shipped out, and it arrived just in time for the wedding.”
Steve wore a classic navy suit from Zenga.

Melissa’s son, Cooper, escorted the bride down “the aisle” (the actual ceremony took place on the dance floor). Then, Sabrina Miller, Melissa’s longtime chief of staff, officiated the wedding. The couple wrote their own vows, but Sabrina’s relaxed, laid-back lead really set the tone for the ceremony, the couple says. “Having Sabrina officiate made the ceremony not feel ‘stiff,'” Melissa says. “She really set the tone from the start—joyful, fun, and upbeat—which helped relax both me and Steve.”

During the reception, guests were seated at tables with patterned dinnerware and floral centerpieces comprised of dark red, peach, and coral dahlias and peonies with white sweet peas. “At every guest place setting, we set bee pins for people to wear to honor my mother,” Melissa adds.

The couple served a three-tiered carrot cake wedding cake, which was decorated with fresh flowers that matched the day’s color palette. Another dessert served as an homage to the ranch venue where the couple originally planned to tie the knot. “We really wanted to incorporate a piece of the ranch where we originally planned to have the wedding, so we asked if they would recreate their signature cowboy cake—a dessert that never leaves the ranch walls,” Melissa says. “It wasn’t the main cake, but it was one of the most special desserts of the night.”
”The band killed it!” Melissa says of the reception entertainment. “There was not one moment where the dance floor was not packed. We worked with the band to curate the playlist, individually picking each song. Guests have been asking us for that playlist.”
The couple’s loved ones enjoyed not just the music and décor, but also the company. “My favorite memory is having all of our different friend groups meet each other and have fun with each other,” the bride says. “I’ve gotten a bunch of texts from people saying they genuinely made new friends—lots of numbers were being exchanged.”
