Benson Boone Seemingly Shades Haters Ahead of Album Release

In the music video for “Mr Electric Blue” from his latest album, “American Heart,” Benson Boone seemingly took a playful jab at his haters. The 22-year-old singer acted as himself in the video, with his co-writer, Jack LaFrantz, as his fictional agent. As Boone enters the agent’s office wearing a “One Hit Wonder” t-shirt, he receives bad news from the agent, who demands $10 million from the artist.

The music video for “Mr Electric Blue” from the album “American Heart” shows Benson Boone addressing his haters. Boone released the music video on June 20, subtly calling out his trolls who post upsetting comments on social media. While talking to his agent in the music video, he learns that the internet does not like him. Moreover, he owes the agent $10 million, forcing the singer to take odd jobs.

The video begins with Boone entering the agent’s office, and the agent welcomes him cheerfully. However, the agent promptly tells him how “everything is terrible.” He adds, “We need a new gimmick,” after telling him how the company put all their money in “Moonbeam Ice Cream” and “a backflip,” but now everything is “done.” The agent then suggests that he try “good songwriting,” but Boone protests. The singer immediately responds, “You know I can’t do that,” taking a jab at the trolls.

Consequently, the agent reveals that Boone owes him $10 million and demands that he return with the sum in ten days. The song thus begins with the video showing the musician taking up various odd jobs. He picks up dog walking, flipping signs to sell jumpsuits at discounts, and landscaping, among other things. The singer also sells ice cream for “Moonbeam Ice Cream,” where a girl upsets him by telling him his music is “terrible.”

After his one last gig as a pool boy, he returns to the agent’s office with $168. But the agent tells him “everything’s fine,” and that he sold his entire catalog to retail chains. Boone sighs in relief, and the video ends with a flashback from three years ago when the agent discovered the singer.

Benson Boone’s “American Heart” was released on June 20 along with the music video for “Mr. Electric Blue.”
