The Los Angeles Sparks are facing serious backlash from WNBA fans this Tuesday.

Leading up to their game against the Seattle Storm, the social media team for the Sparks shared a photo of Sarah Ashlee Barker along with the caption: “Back in front of the home crowd.” While there’s nothing wrong with that message, the photo that was selected for this graphic was quite odd.

Despite the fact that they’re promoting a WNBA game, the Sparks posted a photo of Barker wearing a revealing black top. Most people assumed the team would use a photo of her in uniform.

Over the past few hours, WNBA fans have criticized the Sparks for going down this route. They find it disappointing and highly offensive.

“Y’all need to have more control over these organizations. I take my daughters to these games and we on here promoting the games with women half naked? This is embarrassing,” one fan declared.

“As a women I’m disappointed by the graphic..but each their own…don’t at me,” a second fan wrote.

“What exactly are we promoting here,” a third fan commented.

“The Sparks really want men to watch them, lol. It’s getting embarrassing,” another person wrote on X.

“Sexualizing your players to market for the male gaze is actually insane,” a social media user said.

Barker, a rookie from Alabama, is averaging 4.6 points per game for the Sparks this season.

The Sparks will try to improve to 5-8 when they take on the Storm this evening. Tipoff is set for 10 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
