Manchester United’s Premier League fixtures: Full 2025-26 schedule and key dates

After a season to forget, Manchester United will be keen to start the 2025-26 campaign in far better fashion.

They will kick off with a crunch home game against Arsenal in the pick of the opening-day fixtures.

The Manchester derbies will take place at the Etihad Stadium on September 13 and at Old Trafford on January 17, with games against Liverpool October 18 (away) and May 2 (home).

After losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, they will not feature in European competition in 2025-26. The last time United did not compete in Europe was in the 2014-15 season after David Moyes’ seventh-placed finish in the previous campaign.

Fans will hope that Ruben Amorim’s promise that the “good times are coming” after the final game of last term will ring true soon.

Analysis

By Manchester United writer Carl Anka

Manchester United’s 2025-26 Premier League season will begin against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The match — currently scheduled for a 16.30 kick-off on August 17 — will likely be the most talked-about fixture from the opening weekend.

Ruben Amorim’s men will face difficult challenges in the early stages of the new campaign, with games at Fulham away and Burnley at home before the first Manchester Derby of the season: September 9 at the Etihad Stadium.

That will be followed by a home game against Chelsea. The run represents the hardest five-game start of any Premier League team in 25-26. Season ticket-holders will be mindful of January 17, when the Manchester Derby returns to Old Trafford.

United will first face Liverpool on October 18 at Anfield, with the reverse fixture occurring on May 2.

The rivalry with Leeds United rekindles on January 3 at Elland Road, and again at Old Trafford on April 11. The club’s final match before Christmas will be away to Aston Villa on December 20, before returning to league action on December 27 to face Newcastle at home.

The campaign will conclude against Brighton away – a repeat of the finale from the 2023-24 season. The upcoming season will be United’s first without European football since 2014–15.

Key dates for the 2025-26 season

The exceptional pre-Club World Cup transfer window opened on June 1 and closed nine days later on June 10.

The summer window re-opened on June 16, while the cut-off date for the 2024-25 profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) reporting period coming at the end of the month on June 30. The window closes on Monday, September 1, at 11pm BST (6pm ET).

The winter transfer window opens on Thursday, January 1, and closes on Monday, February 2.

The new Premier League season gets underway on the weekend of August 15-17, a week after the Community Shield on August 8, when league champions Liverpool face FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.

The final match round will be played on Sunday, May 24, 2026, when all 10 matches will kick off simultaneously as usual.

Premier League clubs will enter the FA Cup at the third round, which begins on Saturday, January 10. The Carabao Cup will begin in mid-August, with Premier League teams not playing in Europe entering in the second round, which starts in the week commencing August 25, and the remaining seven clubs receiving a bye to the third round, which takes place in the weeks commencing September 15 and 22.
