The Golden State Valkyries may be new to the league, but they have certainly been making a lasting impression on every opponent and the Seattle Storm are next up to feel the movement.

The Seattle Storm have rattled off three straight wins, including a major victory over the then-undefeated Minnesota Lynx. They’ll have a tough time extending their win streak when they visit the raucous Chase Center and a Golden State Valkyries team that has won two straight.

My Storm vs Valkyries best bet: Valkyries +10.5 (-110 via bet365)
With a 6-4 record straight up and ATS, the Seattle Storm are off to a great start to the season, but the WNBA’s newest team has proven to be feisty in the early goings of its inaugural campaign. The Golden State Valkyries are 4-5 straight up, but they’ve covered in six of nine overall.
Golden State ranks seventh in defensive rating, while Seattle ranks eighth. The Storm hold the advantage in offensive efficiency, but Golden State has done a great job scoring as of late, posting 75 or more points in five straight and averaging 92 over its last two outings.
Home court will be advantageous for Golden State tonight, as the team sports a 0.3 net rating at Chase Center compared to a -6.3 net rating across all other venues. Seattle boasts a solid 6.5 net rating at home but a -2.6 net rating on the road.
The Valkyries continue to silence their detractors, staying competitive despite being underdogs in all 10 games played this season. Golden State has been a double-digit dog five times, and the Valkyries have covered in four of those, including both games at home. In the game that Golden State failed to cover, they lost on the road to a Liberty team that’s been steamrolling opponents. The V’s bounced back in the rematch and kept things close with the defending champs.
Golden State has covered in four of its last five overall, doing so against the Liberty, Lynx, Aces and Sparks. This spread is set far too high, and I’m backing the fiery Valkyries to cover at home tonight.

The Storm have hit the Over in five of 10 games this season, including each of its last two. The Valkyries have hit the Over in four straight. Seattle’s game totals have been at least 155 in six of its last seven, while Golden State’s game totals have reached that mark in seven straight. The Storm have reached this total in two straight on the road, while the Valkyries have reached it in two straight at home.
Kayla Thornton is playing the most minutes of her career at 31.1, and she’s making the most of her new opportunities. On the season, she’s averaging 6.9 boards, but she’s been even better across her last seven, pulling down 7.6. In that span, Thornton has corralled six or more rebounds six times, including both home games. She’s pulled down 11 rebounds in each of her last two games heading into Saturday’s matchup with Seattle, and I expect another solid performance on the glass.
